The Perfect Hackintosh — Hackintosh Myths I busted

Hackintosh stands for Hacked Macintosh where an individual is able to install Apple’s Proprietary Operating System titled the MacOS on a non Apple hardware, thereby the individual can use MacOS. Technically it’s a tedious task, but it comes with certain prices.

According to Apple, Hackintosh computers are illegal, per the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. In addition, creating a Hackintosh computer violates Apple’s end-user license agreement (EULA) for any operating system in the OS X family.

As a techie, I had doubts why there is no perfect hackintosh. This led me to experimenting with my own laptop. I had a Dell Inspiron N5567 at that time. The specification was excellent for a hackintosh. I was aware of the limitations I will be having after the installation of MacOS, like WiFi issues, Graphics Card issues, Display Output issues etc. The blogs and articles about MacOS says that not many laptops are supported, if supported will have certain limitations. The main issue is that all the necessary software was inside the OS itself.

2017 led me to the first hackintosh, installing MacOS on my laptop. Though it was half success and half failure, I was confident that I am able to install MacOS on my laptop. Many experiments were done, but all ended in reinstalling the operating system.

2018 was a year without any experiments on Hackintoshing. I was gearing myself to make a better hackintosh. I read articles, how-to guides, say YouTube tutorial videos to know more about Hackintoshes and the issues they had.

The year 2019 marked my decision of making a perfect Hackintosh. The process of Installing the OS and the post-installation became more familiar to me that it later became so boring to me. After finding the correct KExt (KExt stands for Kernel Extensions) for the touch-pad and keyboard layout, I had a running hackintosh without any booting issues. Still there were issues regarding the card reader, HDMI output, WiFi, Secondary Graphics, Audio and the DVD ROM. I had to buy a new SSD at the beginning of the year as the old hard drive got crashed. I also swapped out the DVD ROM, since it was 2019 and CD/DVD were outdated, installed a hard drive caddy (a tray to install a secondary hard disk to the DVD ROM port) to install a secondary drive to expand my storage. Some pro on the internet had posted a simple KExts to solve some issues such as the card reader and the audio. Still the HDMI output, Secondary Graphics and WiFi issues prevailed.

The introduction HackINTool paved way to the solving of all the issues. Learning how to use the app was tedious, but had to suffer the struggle. After complete 2 months, I was confident to patch my system. I had to inject the necessary codes using the HackINTool into my system. After working around ten hours or more, I was greeted with a “Perfect Hackintosh.”

The first “Perfect Hackintosh” I will say. It had only a small life. Just lived perfectly for four months and died of overheating of components. The ending of 2019 marked the death of my Dell Inspiron N5567.

N.B: The overheating of components was caused by my mistake of overclocking the processor and graphics card.
