iPhone Myths Busted (Only Some)
I started using iPhones from my college time. Before that I didn’t get any chance to use an iPhone or even touch it. 2007 saw the birth of the present day tech giant Apple. The issue with people here was the affordability. The features and security it had was excellent. During my college time I shifted to a paying guest facility, where the senior who lived in the next room had an iPhone 4s, the first iPhone I ever touched and used. Next came in a new room mate for me who had an iPhone 6s. Things got changed after meeting Mr. Jerry, a technician at Apple Service Center. He was frustrated of the service they do at the service center. Instead of replacing a single defective component, they replace the whole board or even the phone. After spending much time in his room and knowing about the iPhone myths people had, I was laughing for quite a log time about the misunderstandings the present day people have about present day iPhones. Lets discuss some common myths/ issues that people say:
- “You can only share files between Apple devices only.”
- “You cannot download music onto iPhone”
- “You cannot install pirated apps onto an iPhone”
- “Apple is ridiculous, they removed the headphone jack.”
- “You cannot use WiFi hotspot on Apple to connect other devices.”
These are some common issues. Lets break them (in my way).
- No. You can share files with other devices using Xender or Snapdrop, an AirDrop alternative. The introduction of the Files App in iOS devices made it more easy to view and save the shared files. Connected to this, some people say that you cannot share files from an iOS device to a Windows PC. It’s completely busted. You can share files using a software that Apple provides called the iTunes (By the way, iTunes is discontinued for MacOS after the introduction of MacOS Catalina, but it is still available for windows via the Microsoft App store or via Apple Support page). Still another free tool called the 3U Tools is there to share files and also to cast the iPhone screen to your PC.
- You can download songs onto your iPhone, but will only be visible to the corresponding app where the songs are saved. For example, if you have send some songs from your android phone to your iPhone via Xender, the songs can only be played via the Xender app. Also, if the song is in a folder inside the files app, you can only play the song from that location only. It’s not possible to add music to the Music App. I think it is because of DRM (Digital Rights Management) Protection (If there are other opinions please let me know). You can add songs to the music app via iTunes or 3U Tools.
- Yes you can install pirated app onto an iPhone. Some will work only on jailbroken devices and others work on both jailbroken and non jailbroken devices. Some apps may require app signing or verification to be done in order to work.
- The reason why they removed the headphone jack is to make the wireless headphone market a big success and this made a complete leap in the waterproofing of the iPhones. Also, what I think is that, USB Audio is way better than what we hear from the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack.
- Yes you can use it. It’s quite simple as toggling a button in the Portable Hotspot section in settings app.
That’s it. I have said only my opinions and knowledge I have. If there are anything I missed or anything is a wrong, please let me know.
