Apps I use for my work.
Being a freelancer is pretty good actually. But, to get things right at the correct time you need the correct apps. In this blog, I will be discussing about the apps I use for increasing my productivity. I use a Windows Laptop with lower configuration. If you want to be freelancer make a future proof selection when choosing gadgets. I would prefer MacOS rather than Windows as it blends smoothly with the hardware. So here is my list:
- Evernote: As discussed in my “iOS Apps I use to get my job done” blog, I use evernote app as my note taking app. Also Google Keep is an online alternative I suggest. I prefer the Evernote Desktop app which you can download for free.
- Snapdrop: Snapdrop is not an app, but a web app to share files between devices. Snapdrop lets us do file sharing, without any app installation. The only requirement is that the devices should be connected to the same network. You can share files from your phone or any other devices to and from your computer.
- Canva: Canva is a graphic design platform, used to create social media graphics, presentations, posters, documents and other visual content. I use Canva to design posters, brochures, business cards, thumbnails, etc. by using free templates or designing one of my own.
- Photo Editing Tools: I have a hobby of clicking random pictures. In-order to enhance the details of a picture, I do small corrections and add watermark, if needed. Some of the photo editing tools include Lightroom by Adobe for enhancing the image, Photoshop by Adobe for image manipulation, Illustrator by Adobe to do any vector based designing. There are many free alternatives for these paid tools, which I will be discussing in my next blog.
- Video Editing Tools: As I do video content creation, editing is a must to make it into a better shape. Premiere Pro by Adobe, After Effects by Adobe and Filmora by Wondershare are two video editors I use. It is very useful to have a simple video editor like Wondershare Filmora, as it can help you do a video much faster because of its on-board template library. After Effects is a VFX and motion graphics software by Adobe. I use After Effects to create stunning intro videos, hyperlapses and many more.
- Encoder Tools: It allows you to change media in many different ways, including altering the format. They compresses media files, reducing their size. Media Encoder by Adobe and Handbrake are the two encoder apps I use. Adobe Media Encoder is a paid app, whereas Handbrake is a freeware.
- Apple ProRes RAW for Windows: This software enables playback of ProRes RAW and ProRes RAW HQ video files in compatible applications on Windows systems. Adobe After Effects Adobe Media Encoder Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Premiere Rush are some applications that supports this codec software.
- Pichon: It is an Icons Offline Pack for Your Windows PC that works with Photoshop, Adobe XD, Visual Studio, or anything. The app stores all the Icons8 icons on your hard drive and these are available in any format, size, or color. The icons work with Photoshop, Sketch, Xcode etc.
So these are some apps that I use on my laptop to get my work done.
